As the boxing world speculates about a potential rematch between Jake Paul and Tommy Fury, the YouTuber-turned-fighter has taken matters into his own hands—by going straight to the top. Paul recently disclosed private messages exchanged with Tyson Fury, the WBC heavyweight champion and Tommy’s older brother, in an attempt to revive talks for a second bout.

Paul, who suffered the only loss of his professional career against Tommy in February 2023, claims that Tyson has been involved behind the scenes to help broker the rematch. Speaking with The MMA Hour’s Ariel Helwani, Paul said, “I DM’d Tyson Fury because Tyson was like, ‘You guys need to make this happen now.’ I was like, ‘Tyson, you’ve got to put your brother in check here. He’s not going to get this money or this offer anywhere else.’”

According to Paul, a £6 million offer to fight last November was turned down by Tommy. The Ohio native didn’t hold back, criticizing both Tommy and his father-manager John Fury, whom he accused of mismanaging the young fighter’s career. “Tommy’s not his own boss, he’s an airhead as well,” Paul stated, further claiming that “his dad has no idea what the (expletive) he’s doing.”

Tommy Fury, meanwhile, returned to action earlier this month in Hungary after a lengthy absence due to hand surgery. He secured a win against Bosnian opponent Kenan Hanjalic, then reignited the feud with Paul in a post-fight callout: “Jake Paul’s a (expletive) and he’s running scared. Jake, the hand’s fixed now, baby. The hand’s fixed.”

Jake Paul remains confident rematch will happen

Despite the friction, Paul believes the rematch is still on the table—though he criticized Fury’s team for overvaluing the fighter’s worth. “I think the Fury fight will happen in the next 12 months, yeah. He just has to be realistic about what he’s worth,” Paul said, mocking Tommy’s recent fight turnout, saying it “tanked” and “couldn’t even fill a 1,000-seat venue.”

Looking ahead, Paul is scheduled to face former middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on June 28 in Anaheim, California. Still, his eyes are locked on a second clash with Tommy. “I just can’t wait to get back in there with this guy. He hasn’t improved at all. Same coach, same dumbass dad—it’s going to be the same story,” Paul concluded.
