In a few weeks, Jake Paul will step into the ring once again to face the son of Julio Cesar Chavez. However, the legendary Mexican boxer is not a fan of the influencer and has slammed him for his disastrous bout against Mike Tyson last year.

Jake Paul has been working to build a legitimate boxing career. He has faced several well-known personalities, but his most recent fight turned out to be a major misstep that severely impacted his path to credibility.

Last November, Jake Paul fought Mike Tyson — a boxer 31 years older than him. The YouTuber won with ease against a clearly exhausted ‘Iron Mike,’ who was unable to pose any real threat during the fight.

Still, Chavez Jr. is expected to be Jake Paul’s toughest challenge to date — especially compared to his last opponent. After Paul defeated Mike Tyson last November, he was widely criticized for fighting a man 31 years older who was clearly unfit to compete at a professional level.

Now, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. has publicly criticized Jake Paul for that decision. The boxing icon stated that he himself would have been a tougher opponent, pointing out that Tyson didn’t even throw hard punches during the fight.

“Jake Paul is young and strong, but he’s never faced a fighter like my son,” Chavez Sr. said at Wednesday’s press conference.I would’ve given Mike Tyson a better fight. He didn’t throw one punch the whole fight. I haven’t seen him train at this level for many years. If he keeps this up until the fight, there is no way Jake Paul is going to beat my son.”

When will Jake Paul vs. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. take place?

At the start of the year, there were rumors that Jake Paul might fight Canelo Alvarez. However, that potential matchup fell through, leaving Paul without a fight scheduled for the first half of the year.
