Zack Wheeler is now recovering from the blood clot surgery he underwent, which will unfortunately keep him off the mound for some time. However, his family seems to be in good spirits after his brother recently sent a message of thanks to all Philadelphia Phillies fans.
The message was posted on X by Jacob Wheeler, who said he was grateful for all the support shown to his brother and their family. According to him, the messages received from Phillies fans show how truly good they are.
“Shoutout to all the Phillies fans & baseball fans who’ve shown their support of my brother & family. So many messages have poured in that I’m not able to get to them all. All have been so supportive and positive. Phillies fans are truly family first and it shows. Thank you.”
When Could Zack Wheeler Return to the Mound?
It is still unknown. He is officially on the 15-day injured list, but according to experts, like sports medicine specialist Dr. Jesse Morse, a full recovery will require many more weeks away from the Phillies.

Zack Wheeler #45 of the Philadelphia Phillies pitches during game two of a doubleheader against the Atlanta Braves at Citizens Bank Park on May 29, 2025 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
“That’s most likely season-ending for Zack Wheeler due to a blood clot in his right shoulder. A big blow for the Phillies. Usually these require a minimum of being placed on 3 months of blood thinners. You’re not allowed to play on blood thinners.”
Thomson Stands with Wheeler
Phillies manager Rob Thomson was very clear, stating, “He is the heart of this team and he is the heart of this staff.” He also expressed his full support for Wheeler’s recovery, saying, “My thoughts are with him. This is real life.” Dave Uram of KYW Newsradio reported that Thomson credited his team for keeping the energy up as they process the news of what Wheeler is dealing with.
