“I’m very impressed,” Doncic told Sportsnet Spectrum. “I knew when I played with him he could maybe be an assistant coach or something. I never expected him to be a head coach. But seeing what he’s done, it’s unbelievable.“

Doncic’s influence on the Lakers’ surge

The Lakers finished the regular season with a 50-32 record, including an 18-10 run after Doncic joined the lineup. Though he missed four of the final 32 games due to minor injuries and rest, his presence made a clear difference.

Doncic totaled 778 points across just 28 games, placing him fourth among the league’s top scorers despite limited appearances. He averaged an impressive 28.2 points per game with the Lakers and added 211 assists, third on the team behind LeBron James, who led with 575.
