Aaron Rodgers admitted that it is very rewarding to be able to play meaningful games late in the year as the quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers. The veteran recalled that, in the last two seasons, it was very frustrating not to be a contender with the New York Jets.
“It has been a really special year. We’re playing meaningful football in December and January now, which is what I wanted after the last couple of years. We’ve been in playoff type mindset since we were 6-6. These are meaningful games that you want to play in. It’s tough on the other side. I’ve been a part of a locker room last couple of years where we got to December and started talking about your offseason plans or your travel plans. That’s not a whole lot of fun. You want to be in here talking about the game, meaningful snaps and doing something special. It starts with this week against Baltimore.”
Despite Rodgers’ optimism, everything could end the same way with the Steelers if he doesn’t get a win against the Baltimore Ravens. On the road to the Super Bowl, it doesn’t matter if you are eliminated early or in Week 18. For that reason, failure could be just as significant now playing for Mike Tomlin.
What’s next for Aaron Rodgers?
If Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers lose against the Ravens, the next step could be retirement or perhaps exploring options as a free agent. The veteran acknowledged that he expects to have at least two offers after his strong year in Pittsburgh and that he still enjoys football, including practice days.
“I embrace all the moments. I enjoy all of it. There’s a lot of beauty in the mundane. The mundane is the Monday to Saturday where you can actually win games. I embrace that part of the job. I’ve loved it. That’s why I’m still here and I’m still playing. Obviously, the icing on the cake is game day, but, Monday to Saturday is where you win games.”
The Steelers wasted their first opportunity to qualify for the playoffs in Cleveland, but they will have one last chance at home. If they beat the Ravens, they will achieve their first goal of reaching the postseason by securing a home game.

How can Steelers make the NFL playoffs?
The Steelers can make the playoffs with a win over the Ravens. A key factor for Aaron Rodgers is that the deciding game will be played in Pittsburgh, and for that reason, he asked the fans to be as loud as possible.
“It’s beneficial for sure because we need our crowd to be as loud as possible on Sunday. It’s a night game. It’s the only game on TV. It’s a special feeling to be able to play on that Sunday night slot for all or nothing. It’s a lot easier when you’re playing at home.”
