Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers pulled off an epic 29-24 win over the Lions in Detroit. After holding a 12-point lead with only five minutes remaining, Mike Tomlin’s defense nearly let the victory slip away.
However, on the final play of the game, a controversial offensive pass interference call prevented Jared Goff from completing the comeback. This is what Rodgers said in an interview with CBS about the sequence and a key decision by the referees.
“Chaos. I was part of a game 13 years ago that had this kind of chaos. I mean, just watching it now, it looks like there’s no pass interference. Looks like he’s stopped. Forward progress is stopped. A crazy game. We had another pass interference on the touchdown. So, just happy to get a win. We played great in the second half on offense. Picked up our defense and they came up with a big stop. It feels good to win. Everybody was picking us to lose. Right?”
Did the Steelers clinch a playoff berth?
No. The Pittsburgh Steelers haven’t clinched a playoff berth after a win in Detroit, but they still control their own destiny to do so. One possible scenario is that the Ravens lose to the Patriots and the Steelers defeat the Browns in Week 17.
How can the Steelers win the AFC North?
If the Ravens keep winning, the game between the Steelers and Browns will be irrelevant in Week 17. The divisional champion will be decided in the Week 18 matchup between Baltimore and Pittsburgh at Acrisure Stadium. The winner goes to the playoffs, and the loser is out.
