It’s not a good time to be a fan of the Dallas Cowboys. They are suffering heavily right now as one of their best players, Micah Parsons, hit the team with a trade request. Amid all that, Dak Prescott might have just lost one of the players poised to be big on offense.
Jaydon Blue is one of those rookies who created a lot of hype because of the speed he possesses. The running back ran a 4.3-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. However, he left practice injured “with an ankle injury after he was twisted by the face mask to the ground,” as reported by Todd Archer of ESPN.
The Cowboys, besides, don’t have an elite running game. Two new faces came into the team but none are top-tier running backs. Javonte Williams was let go by the Broncos, and Miles Sanders was the backup on a below-par Carolina Panthers roster.
Jaydon Blue had a path to become a starter
As said above, Blue’s competition wasn’t elite. That means that if he impressed on preseason, he would at least ensure himself more NFL snaps that anticipated. This ankle injury is a big setback for the fifth-round rookie.

In a bigger picture, this is bad for the Cowboys. Not having a great running game could really cost them once the season develops. Dak Prescott can’t be trusted to win games if he has to throw 40-45 times per outing, it’s not sustainable. If the Cowboys rushing department doesn’t deliver, the offense will have plenty of issues moving the chains.

It’s another problem for a rookie head coach
Brian Schottenheimer was promoted to head coach by owner Jerry Jones after Mike McCarthy’s departure. Since then, instead of being able to instill his ideas into the team, he’s suffered plenty of drama and setbacks.
As of now, seven projected key players are injured. Your best player is wanting out of the team. You have a new, talented wideout in George Pickens, which should be good, except that he has a reputation of being a bit of a hothead in the locker room. Your quarterback is recovering after an injury-filled season and you lost your best running back on a weird trade with Carolina. Besides the paycheck, it’s tough looking at Schottenheimer’s situation right now.
