Mike Tomlin warned the Pittsburgh Steelers that DK Metcalf’s return does not guarantee that the offense will suddenly become an explosive unit against the Houston Texans.
“Certainly, it’s awesome to have DK back, but, we’re not going to exhale and think that DK automatically with his presence is going to be a difference or the difference. Football is the ultimate team game. It’s going to require great effort from all parties involved, but certainly excited about doing it with him.”
The Steelers have a great opportunity to compete for the Super Bowl after an epic 26–24 victory over the Ravens in Week 18. A missed field goal by Tyler Loop on the final play of the game opened the door for Pittsburgh to win the AFC North and clinch a spot in the playoffs.
DK Metcalf is back after NFL suspension
DK Metcalf is finally cleared to return with the Pittsburgh Steelers just in time for the start of the playoffs against the Houston Texans. The star was suspended for two games after an altercation with a fan during the matchup with the Lions in Detroit.
Aaron Rodgers gets a huge boost on offense
Although DK Metcalf appealed the NFL’s decision, his claim was unsuccessful and he missed the games against the Browns and Ravens. That greatly limited the offense led by Aaron Rodgers, who had to rely on names such as Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Calvin Austin III, and Adam Thielen.
Steelers won’t void DK Metcalf’s salary
As a consequence of his actions, DK Metcalf lost nearly $555,000 in salary for missing two games and, under his contract, could have lost $45 million in guaranteed money. However, the Steelers decided not to void that amount, which was a big relief for the wide receiver.
