Aaron Rodgers has reportedly given the Pittsburgh Steelers a sign that he's leaning towards playing under Mike Tomlin in the 2025 NFL season.

Aaron Rodgers kept Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers waiting in a long decision-making process about his future in the NFL. However, it appears that the veteran quarterback is giving the Steel City reasons for optimism.

On Tuesday’s episode of her Scoop City podcast, NFL insider Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that the Steelers believe Rodgers is close to making a decision, and that they have a good feeling about it based on their recent conversations with the 41-year-old.

Nothing’s really gonna happen until Rodgers makes a decision, and the Steelers feel like it’s coming soon. I can tell you they’re talking, the communication, I was told, is really good between both teams,” Russini said, via Bleacher Report.

Steelers’ draft moves fuel Rodgers rumors

The Rodgers rumors were fueled by the Pittsburgh’s activity in the 2025 NFL Draft. Tomlin explained that the Steelers didn’t select Shedeur Sanders because they prioritized other areas of the field, but many saw it as a sign they are confident about getting Rodgers.

Pittsburgh did take a quarterback, picking Will Howard in the sixth round. However, the Ohio State Buckeyes champion is expected to run from behind in the QB room, especially if Rodgers comes to town.

It’s been a busy week in the Steel City, as the team continued to make moves even after the Draft. Apart from signing a number of undrafted free agents, the Steelers also parted with a former teammate of Rodgers by releasing DT Montravius Adams.

But there could be another signing in store for Tomlin and it could turn out to be the team’s biggest move of the offseason, in the event Rodgers ends up joining the Steelers. And while nothing can be taked for granted until the 4x NFL MVP confirms his final decision, there’s a sense of optimism in Pittsburgh.
