The NFL legal tampering period is well underway, and the Kansas City Chiefs arenāt wasting a single second. The front office looks committed to making Andy Reidās job easier, with the team reportedly snatching a player who shone under Jim Harbaugh for the Los Angeles Chargers last year.
On Tuesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Chargers free agent cornerback Kristian Fulton is joining the Chiefs on two-year, $20 million deal which includes $15 million fully guaranteed.
Fulton, 26, was selected in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft by the Tennessee Titans, who were impressed with his performance in the NCAA. With LSU, the cornerback won the 2019 CFP National Championship.
Fultonās experience could be what Reid, Chiefs need at CB2
Fulton arrives in Kansas City with 51 career starts under his belt, with 32 passes defended and five interceptions. Last season, he started in 14 of 15 games played for Harbaughās Chargers, recording a career-high 39 solo tackles and 51 combined tackles.

Kristian Fulton #7 of the Los Angeles Chargers warms up prior to a game against the Carolina Panthers at Bank of America Stadium on September 15, 2024 in Charlotte, North Carolina.
With Fulton, the Chiefs address a big need at CB2. When starter Jaylen Watson got injured last year, neither Nazeeh Johnson nor Joshua Williams proved to be reliable alternatives to Reid.

Curiously, Fulton was the Chargers player who intercepted Patrick Mahomes before the quarterback accidentally tackled and injured Rashee Rice while trying to stop the cornerback in Week 4 of the 2024 NFL season.
The Chiefsā moves so far
Fulton is the third reported signing Kansas City is making in free agency, following the Chiefsā moves for two 49ers players on Monday. In the first day of the legal tampering period, the team agreed to terms with offensive tackle Jaylon Moore and running back Elijah Mitchell.
On the other hand, Reid and company are expected to lose three players in free agency. While Justin Watson is leaving the Chiefs for C.J. Stroudās Houston Texans, DT Turk Wharton is heading to the Carolina Panthers, whereas RB Samaje Perine is returning to the Cincinnati Bengals.
However, the Chiefsā biggest moves so far may have to do with the return of familiar faces. This offseason, the front office made sure to re-sign RG Trey Smith, LB Nick Bolton, and WR Hollywood Brown.
