Who is Mahomes and Kelce’s teammate returning to the Chiefs?
According to NFL insider Tom Pelissero on his X account (formerly Twitter), the Chiefs are re-signing veteran wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster to a one-year contract, reuniting him with Mahomes and Kelce on Andy Reid’s team. Smith-Schuster was a free agent and available to any franchise.

The 28-year-old veteran previously signed a one-year, $10.75 million contract with the Chiefs in 2022. After winning the Super Bowl with Kansas City that season, he joined the New England Patriots on a three-year, $33 million deal.

JuJu Smith-Schuster’s tenure with the Chiefs
In 2024, after being cut by New England, Smith-Schuster returned to the Chiefs, playing 14 games (eight as a starter) before becoming a free agent. Now, his return to the team for 2025 has been confirmed. In total, he has recorded 1,164 yards and 96 receptions over two regular seasons with Reid’s roster.
