Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers are still waiting for Aaron Rodgers to decide his future in the NFL. However, during an interview with The Dan Patrick Show, Bill Cowher gave his colleague some advice on who should be the team’s starting quarterback.
“I personally think that Russell Wilson is your best choice. It’s going to be a better offensive line room with Fautanu coming back and moving Broderick to left tackle. I think you’re looking at the best receiving core you’re going to have in a long time in terms of they can keep George Pickens or not. With Arthur Smith in the second year, in theory, the offense should take a step forward.”
The Steelers haven’t won the Super Bowl in over 16 years, so they need to find Ben Roethlisberger’s successor as soon as possible. The big problem is that Rodgers is taking too long and would be a short-term solution. However, the 2025 draft isn’t very deep at the position.
Is Aaron Rodgers retiring?
No. Aaron Rodgers is not considering retiring from football for now. However, if his preferred option, such as the Vikings, is not available, he might change his mind. That’s why Bill Cowher sent a warning to the Steelers about the veteran.
“Can he still throw it? Yes. Is he mobile enough? I think so. But does he really want to play? I mean, the longer you wait, you just have to wonder where is his heart and how much does he really want to do it. I always think when somebody starts talking about retirement, they’ve already checked the box. So, they’ve checked out to some degree. I think there’s a lot that has to play out.”
