The 2024 NFL season was extremely disappointing, to say the least, for the Tennessee Titans. Therefore, it’s not a surprise to see the team bring new faces for next season, including a former teammate of Aaron Rodgers and Tua Tagovailoa.
On Wednesday, the Titans announced that they signed quarterback Tim Boyle, who played a few games for the Miami Dolphins in 2024 during Tagovailoa’s absence. Years before that, the 30-year-old was part of the same QB room as Rodgers.
Boyle spent two years alongside the 4x NFL MVP on the Green Bay Packers, who signed him as an undrafted free agent out of Eastern Kentucky in 2018. From then on, Boyle started to bounce around the league.
Boyle’s journey in the NFL
Two seasons on the Detroit Lions were followed by a year with the Chicago Bears, but life would eventually cross his path with Rodgers again. In 2023, Boyle signed with the New York Jets, who also traded for A-Rod that year.

Rodgers’ season-ending injury in Week 1 made room for him on the active roster, but the Jets ended up releasing Boyle as he failed to lead the team to victory in two starts.

After a few months with the Houston Texans, Boyle found a new home in Miami in August 2024. Just like it happened with Rodgers’ injury on the Jets, he found a place on the 53-man roster after Tagovailoa entered the concussion protocol. His performances left much to be desired, but he landed on the New York Giants after being cut by the Dolphins.
Boyle now heads to Tennessee with 23 appearances in the NFL under his belt, hoping to improve his career stats. Apart from carrying a negative, 0-5 record in all five games he started, his numbers show 141-of-233 completed passes for 1,210 yards with five touchdowns and 13 interceptions.

The Titans QBs for the 2025 NFL season
Last season, he went 27-of-50 for 276 yards with one touchdown and one interception in three games (two with Dolphins and one with Giants). Regardless, the Titans are now giving Boyle another opportunity in the NFL, adding depth to a quarterback room that currently counts on Will Levis and Brandon Allen.

This may not be the last quarterback move in Tennessee this offseason, though. The Titans’ terrible 3-14 record in 2024 at least secured them the first overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders, therefore, could be serious options for the Titans.
