Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers remain quiet about their plans at the quarterback position. At the moment, all the confidence is in Mason Rudolph while they wait for Aaron Rodgers. However, many rumors have brought up the possibility of pursuing Kirk Cousins.
For that to happen, Rodgers would have to definitively turn down the Steelers. In that case, the quarterback room would consist of Rudolph, Skylar Thompson, and Will Howard. They would need a fourth player at the position, and it would most likely be a veteran.
The only names with NFL experience still available are Cousins (if Atlanta agrees to a trade) and possibly Carson Wentz, who just finished his stint with the Kansas City Chiefs.
What team wants Kirk Cousins?
The Steelers would be interested in Kirk Cousins according to several reports, but, amid all the noise surrounding the quarterback, Mike Florio has warned that these hypotheses might have no validity at all.
“I’m not even sure the Steelers want him. Look, Arthur Smith, the offensive coordinator, surely knows enough people with the Falcons to get an unvarnished viewpoint of why they think he fell apart last year. They may not want a guy like Kirk Cousins at this stage of his career.”
