Mike Tomlin didn’t want to miss the chance to send a special message about Aaron Rodgers and his recent visit with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Regardless of whether the quarterback signs with the team or not, the head coach acknowledged that it was a great moment due to the admiration he has for the veteran.
“I’m excited to be quite honest about the acquisition of new talent. Aaron came and spent a day with us. We had an awesome day. For a couple of guys like ourselves, me and Aaron to have been in the league as long as we have and to be familiar with one another, there’s still no substitute for spending time together and bouncing ideas off one another. Getting to know one another in a more intimate way beyond competition. So, that was exciting.”
The Steelers believe that Rodgers is the ideal man to take the next step in their pursuit of a Super Bowl within a very crowded AFC. However, there is still no response from the player, and it’s unclear how long it will take for him to communicate his final decision.
Can the Steelers win the Super Bowl?
Mike Tomlin believes his team is ready to compete for the Super Bowl, but a key factor will be finding the players who can ultimately secure a playoff victory for the Steelers. Among them could be Aaron Rodgers.
“The process of evaluating everyone at the position has been a fun one, but, fun for me is winning. So, the players that we acquire, we got to train, we got to assimilate them into our culture and we got to get prepared to meet the challenges of competition in the fall and winter.”
