Aaron Rodgers continues to delay his decision, but in the meantime, Mike Tomlin and the Pittsburgh Steelers are reportedly meeting other candidates. Shedeur Sanders, one of the best prospects ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft, is expected to visit the team on Thursday.

While this has created some confusion in regards to Rodgers’ future, Jordan Schultz doesn’t believe it will impact the Steelers‘ interest in the four-time NFL MVP. According to the FOX Sports insider, the team expects to sign the 41-year-old despite Sanders’ visit.

The Steelers remain very interested in Aaron Rodgers, and the hope is an agreement eventually happens,” Schultz wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter) on Tuesday.

However, Schultz did note that the Steelers’ desire to get Rodgers hasn’t prevented Tomlin and company from doing their due diligence ahead of the 2025 NFL Draft.

But Pittsburgh has done extensive work on this year’s QB class — and Shedeur Sanders is now scheduled to be in the building on Thursday, per source,” added Schultz.

The Steelers have made it crystal clear that they want Rodgers. While Tomlin, general manager Omar Khan, and owner Art Rooney II publicly praised A-Rod, their biggest way of showing their interest was to give the QB all the time he needed this offseason.

But Rodgers has been warned that the Steelers’ patience won’t last forever. With the 2025 NFL Draft drawing nearer, the team will need an answer sooner rather than later. However, they will not tie their future to an answer that could continue to take months.

Therefore, the Steelers first brought back Mason Rudolph to secure an experienced player at the quarterback room. With that box checked, the team can now explore the possibility of finding a long-term answer in the Draft.

Before scheduling a visit with Sanders, Pittsburgh reportedly brought in Jaxson Dart and Tyler Shough, who could also be names to watch when the Steelers are on the clock in Green Bay.

With the 21st overall pick, it’s still unclear whether the Steelers will use their first-round selection on a quarterback. Sanders is not expected to fall down that much though, so Pittsburgh will probably have to trade up if it wants to secure the Colorado product.
