George Pickens considered a trade to leave the Pittsburgh Steelers, according to a report by Jeremy Fowler. However, in the end, the star wide receiver is happy to stay with Mike Tomlin’s team and could become one of the most important weapons for Aaron Rodgers if the quarterback signs.

ā€œThere was a little bit of smoke out of the Draft, but I was told that George Pickens, wants to be in Pittsburgh. Sort of flirted with a trade request, but, in the end, he loves Mike Tomlin and wants to be part of things. From the Steelers’ perspective, they want to keep all their arsenal intact because of the quarterback situation. Trade talks or any sort of buzz around that has cooled.ā€

Now, the Steelers will pursue the Super Bowl with an offense that includes Pickens, DK Metcalf, Pat Freiermuth, and Jaylen Warren. The big question is whether Rodgers will arrive in the coming weeks or if they’ll need to turn to a backup plan like Kirk Cousins.

Will George Pickens sign contract extension with Steelers?

George Pickens has not signed a contract extension with the Steelers, and at the moment, there are no signs that negotiations will begin anytime soon. The wide receiver is entering the final year of his rookie deal.

Because of this, rumors about a possible trade began to swirl, involving teams like the Dallas Cowboys. However, according to Fowler, there is currently no possibility that the player will leave Pittsburgh.

What hasn’t been ruled out is that, during the 2025 season, the trade option could come back into play depending on the Steelers’ circumstances. It seems very unlikely that Pickens will receive a new contract worth at least $30 million per year.
