The Pittsburgh Steelers are facing a quarterback dilemma that could shake up their 2025 season. With both Justin Fields and Russell Wilson in the mix, the team is leaning toward a huge decision.

The Pittsburgh Steelers have a few weeks to decide who will be their starting quarterback for the 2025 season. Both team owner Art Rooney II and general manager Omar Khan have confirmed that they can only sign either Justin Fields or Russell Wilson. Bringing both back is no longer an option.

Fields shined at the start of the season with a 4-2 record, mainly by avoiding turnovers. The former Chicago Bears player had only one interception. Additionally, thanks to his mobility, he seemed like a constant threat to opposing defenses.

However, Mike Tomlin believed that Wilson was the key to winning the Super Bowl. After a 10-3 record, his switch seemed like a brilliant move, but the ending was a disaster. Pittsburgh didn’t win another game and was eliminated early from the playoffs.

Will Justin Fields sign with Steelers?

The Pittsburgh Steelers intend to sign Justin Fields to a contract extension, according to a report by Tony Pauline. The main reason is that the 2025 class is not very deep at the quarterback position, making Fields the ideal choice.

“The Pittsburgh Steelers have told people in Indianapolis that they are not impressed with the top quarterbacks in this year’s draft. Hence, the possibility of the team taking a signal-caller in the middle of the first round is slim to none.”

“Several people who met with the team tell me the sense is that Pittsburgh hopes to move forward with Justin Fields, who they wanted to win the starting job last season. Of course, that means they would have to sign the 2021 first-round pick to a contract, as Fields is slated for free agency.”
