Mike Tomlin has made one of the biggest gambles of his career. According to a report by Gerry Dulac, the head coach was the key figure in convincing Aaron Rodgers to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
âMike Tomlin is the person behind this whole thing. Heâs the guy who wanted him. Obviously, Art Rooney II, if he didnât want to do this, he wouldnât have done it. But this was all Mike Tomlinâs idea. This is what he wanted, he pushed for it and he got him.â
For several years, Tomlin and Rodgers have publicly expressed admiration for each other, and now they will finally have the chance to work together in the NFL. Not many believe they have a real chance to win the Super Bowl.
Aaron Rodgers and the Steelersâ drought in the playoffs
According to Gerry Dulac, the goal for Aaron Rodgers is to lead the Steelers to the playoffs and give them their first postseason win since the 2016 season. Expecting anything more is unrealistic considering the numerous changes to the roster.
âWinning the game is the big thing. Theyâve made the postseason four of the last five years. So, itâs not a franchise in disarray or where the sky is falling. Are they a better team at this time now than they were at this time last year? I personally donât think so because when you lose 10 of 22 starters, itâs difficult to say without many major changes.â
