NFL News: The man behind the scenes who brought Aaron Rodgers to the Steelers

He wasn't in the spotlight, but without him, Aaron Rodgers would never be wearing black and gold. Behind every blockbuster move, there's someone quietly pulling the strings, and this time, that man just changed the course of the Steelers' future.

Mike Tomlin has made one of the biggest gambles of his career. According to a report by Gerry Dulac, the head coach was the key figure in convincing Aaron Rodgers to play for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

“Mike Tomlin is the person behind this whole thing. He’s the guy who wanted him. Obviously, Art Rooney II, if he didn’t want to do this, he wouldn’t have done it. But this was all Mike Tomlin’s idea. This is what he wanted, he pushed for it and he got him.”

For several years, Tomlin and Rodgers have publicly expressed admiration for each other, and now they will finally have the chance to work together in the NFL. Not many believe they have a real chance to win the Super Bowl.

Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers’ drought in the playoffs

According to Gerry Dulac, the goal for Aaron Rodgers is to lead the Steelers to the playoffs and give them their first postseason win since the 2016 season. Expecting anything more is unrealistic considering the numerous changes to the roster.

“Winning the game is the big thing. They’ve made the postseason four of the last five years. So, it’s not a franchise in disarray or where the sky is falling. Are they a better team at this time now than they were at this time last year? I personally don’t think so because when you lose 10 of 22 starters, it’s difficult to say without many major changes.”
