Despite a strong entry into the 2025 NFL playoffs, the Green Bay Packers faltered in the opening round, igniting frustration among fans over the team’s inability to compete at the expected level. In response to both injuries and immediate needs, the organization has committed to bolstering head coach Matt LaFleur’s roster. A Super Bowl champion from the Eagles’ triumph over the Chiefs will now join the Packers.
Elite Loyalty Sports has announced that the Green Bay Packers have signed running back Tyrion Davis-Price. According to Bill Huber of Sports Illustrated, the former Eagles RB was seen at the team’s practice on Tuesday, donning number 44.
With MarShawn Lloyd, Emanuel Wilson, Jalen White, and Israel Abanikanda nursing injuries, Tyrion Davis-Price emerges as an ideal fit for the Packers. The team aims to handle the recovery of their regular players with caution. Although Davis-Price only appeared in one game for Philadelphia last season, the preseason offers a prime opportunity for him to demonstrate his full capabilities.
Packers GM Brian Gutekunst gets blunt on RB competition, fueling rumors of a possible departure
With Davis-Price joining the Green Bay Packers, an intriguing competition is brewing in the team’s backfield. On the current depth chart, Josh Jacobs holds the RB1 spot, followed by Emanuel Wilson, MarShawn Lloyd in third, and Chris Brooks rounding out the group.

Tyrion Davis-Price #35 of the Philadelphia Eagles participates in a team practice ahead of Super Bowl LIX at the Ochsner Sports Performance Center.
Meanwhile, Israel Abanikanda and Tyrion are set to battle for roster spots as the team finalizes its 53-man lineup. Considering this, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst hint at a potential roster shake-up on the horizon.

“Certainly, with Emanuel Wilson and Chris Brooks, we’ve got two established players who have proven their abilities in this league. We want to get MarShawn out there. Hopefully, I think this week, we’re going to get him out there. That would be nice to see what he can add to the group, but I like the competition there. I like that they have a diverse skill set between all four of them, and I’m very comfortable with that group,” Gutekunst said in the press conference.
Considering the Green Bay Packers have until August 26 at 4 p.m. ET to trim their roster to 53 players, the battle for the third running back spot heats up in the coming days of training camp. Consequently, the competition may come down to MarShawn Lloyd, Abanikanda and Davis-Price, which will try to convince Matt LaFleur for a placer in the final roster.
