The New England Patriots suffered a major blow when Tom Brady decided to sign a two-year deal with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers after two decades with the organization, and they enter this NFL season with more uncertainties than ever in their history.

However, there was still plenty of confidence in Bill Belichick’s ability to get by without his legendary signal-caller, especially when they signed Cam Newton to a one-year deal several weeks before the start of the season.

Fast-forward to Week 7 of the campaign and the questions star looming around again, as Newton has looked terrible over his last two outings and some people believe that Belichick is getting exposed without Brady under center.

Bill Belichick Says Cam Newton Is Their Best Player At Quarterback

Nevertheless, and even though Jarrett Stidham took over in the fourth quarter on Sunday, Bill Belichick reaffirmed that he’s going to continue rolling with Cam Newton as his starting quarterback ahead of Stidham or Bryan Hoyer:

“Well, I think he’s our best player there. Again, there are other problems offensively and things we need to do better. That’s what we’re going to work on. We have to find ways to be more productive,” Belichick told WEEI.

Newton has been humble and self-aware about his recent woes and acknowledged that he needs to be better or he’ll lose his starting job at Foxborough, but that doesn’t seem to be the case right now.

Then again, it would be hard to stick with him if he has another 0-touchdown, 3-interception performance in Week 8, so he better takes his game up a notch or he could be out of the league at the end of the season.
