The Dallas Cowboys have been working on the Micah Parsons deal all of the offseason. While they prepare to have Dak Prescott back from injury to command the offense, it’s Parsons’ duty to prevail being a menace on defense. Now, there’s a report with an update on the matter.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the team is on the ‘take it easy’ path. According to his sources, there’s “not a lot going on. People are on vacation. Team officials were out on the beach somewhere. Once they reconvene for training camp, Dallas will probably lock in on this a little bit more. Typically, they do their deals late in the calendar, you know, late August, early September. We’ve seen that with CeeDee Lamb, Dak Prescott, some of their other big deals.”
This is not what Cowboys fans want to hear. Parsons is a generational talent, and arguably a top 3 defensive player in the NFL. The team literally can’t afford to lose him. The Cowboys are desperate for success, and having him on the roster certainly helps their case to get close to that.
Micah Parsons is something else
Standing at 6’3″, 245 lbs, Parsons is an athletic freak that can line up anywhere, from an edge rusher, to an inside linebacker. At 26 years old, he’s only entering his prime, but he has already left a mark in the league. In only four years, he is a 4x Pro Bowl, Defensive Rooke of the Year, 2x All-Pro, and became a household name in the NFL’s biggest franchise.

Micah Parsons #11 of the Dallas Cowboys walks off the field after a preseason game against the Los Angeles Chargers at AT&T Stadium on August 24, 2024 in Arlington, Texas.
Parsons is on pace to became an all-time great. He has 52.5 sacks, a staggering 256 combined tackles, 112 QB Hits. He is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with. The Cowboys need to sign him long-term and a.s.a.p.

Is signing Parsons all the Cowboys got to do?
It’s a big-time move to extend Parsons to a new deal. However, that’s not the only thing the Cowboys have done. The defense will have a boost with defensive end Dante Fowler Jr. He just got double-digit sacks last season at Washington. He will make an incredible duo with Parsons. Thomas Solomon is also coming as defensive tackle. Other new names are Kenneth Murray Jr., Jack Sanborn, and Kaiir Elam.
Offensively, the biggest names coming in are wide receiver George Pickens, running backs Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders. These three names will all play a big part on the offense led by Dak Prescott.
