El Salvador proved to have an imposing defense during the first round of the 2022 Concacaf World Cup Qualifiers. A single goal allowed speaks very well of the defensive work that “El Profesor” Hugo Perez, El Salvador's head coach, is doing to win a spot in Qatar 2022.

The only controversy of the week was the return of Darwin Ceren to “La Selecta” (El Salvador’s national soccer team nickname). Some fans on social media directly criticized the head coach for including Ceren on the 26-player roster due to his poor performance in previous games.
