The opening phase of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 is drawing to a close. Over the course of this week, the final positions in each of the eight groups will be determined, setting up the matchups for the Round of 16. On Tuesday night, Chelsea, Flamengo, Esperance Sportive de Tunis, and Los Angeles FC played their Matchday 3 fixtures.

Flamengo were the first team in the tournament to clinch the top spot in their group, earning a 2-0 win over Esperance and a 3-1 victory against Chelsea in their first two matches. With their place already secured, they drew 1-1 with LAFC, who had no chance of advancing to the next round.

The truly decisive Matchday 3 clash in Group D is between Chelsea and Esperance. Both teams were tied on 3 points after following identical paths: each lost to Flamengo and defeated LAFC.
