PSG will be back into 2021-22 Ligue 1 action on Friday, October 15, when they host Angers at Parc des Princes. The French side has one of the mightiest squads on the planet right now, and that's mainly because it includes Lionel Messi and Neymar.

Paris Saint-Germain began the new season on the right foot in terms of results, although they have plenty of work to do regarding their game. And that became clear when they were shocked by Rennes last time out.

Mauricio Pochettino, however, needs to get his side back on track again and the upcoming match will be a must-win. It will be quite challenging, though, as both Messi and Neymar will be unavailable.

Why are Messi and Neymar not playing for PSG vs Angers?

It's safe to say that the Argentinian star had a slow start to life in Paris after making a shocking arrival from Barcelona. Regardless, he is still arguably the world's best and PSG will always look much stronger with him on field.

But the October international window will prevent both him and the Brazilian winger from playing on Friday. Lionel Messi and Neymar won't feature for PSG against Angers because of the South American 2022 World Cup Qualifiers triple-fixture, as its last round was scheduled for Thursday, October 14, just one day before the Ligue 1 clash.

Both players won't make it on time to fly back to France and suit up for the league game. So, this time, Pochettino will have to rely on other players of his talented squad to get the job done.
