The Milwaukee Bucks don’t control their destiny in the draft for the next couple of years, so they have no incentive to tank. As such, landing high-impact players should be their top priority in any potential Giannis trade.

Both players joined Steve Pikiell’s team ahead of the 2024-25 season. They finished with a 15-17 overall record (8-12 in the Big Ten), finishing their season with a 97-89 double overtime loss to the USC Trojans in the first round of their conference tournament.&nbsp;



Harper finished his season playing 46 minutes, scoring 27 points, grabbing eight rebounds, dishing out eight assists, stealing two balls and blocking two shots. Overall, he averaged 19.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.4 steals per game, shooting 48.4% from the field, 33.3% from deep and 75% from the free-throw line.



<h2>Brooklyn Nets reportedly unlikely to trade up for Dylan Harper&nbsp;</h2>



Ahead of the 2025 NBA Draft, Harper has been linked with the Brooklyn Nets, a team with a young core hungry to make it to the next level. They currently have the No. 8 overall pick, but it’s unlikely that they trade up to take the No. 2 selection to pick Harper.

Brian Lewis of the New York Post reported on Tuesday that the possibility is off the table.&nbsp;



“Unlikely. Matter of fact I might even go highly unlikely,” Lewis said. “That’s from multiple sources. You never say never, but I think that’s something that I wouldn’t count on seeing happening. Trading up? Maybe. And I’m sure they’d love to have Dylan Harper, but the odds of him landing here in Brooklyn, not very good.”

The Wizards had the second-worst record in the NBA this season. They’re projected to have a top-three selection, and if they don’t get the first-overall pick, Harper should be in play there.

The Rutgers Scarlet Knights were perhaps the most disappointing team in all of <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball</a> this season. Despite having two future <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a> stars, they couldn’t even make the playoffs.



Dylan Harper had a strong freshman season, and instead of shutting it down when he hurt his ankle, he came back to play to try and will his team into March Madness.



So, now that he’s officially declared for the NBA Draft and is projected to be the second-overall pick, Greg Pauto of Sports Illustrated believes the Brooklyn Nets should take him.

“Harper to Brooklyn works on so many levels,” he wrote. “First, the location is ideal with Harper growing up in New Jersey and attending Rutgers. Brooklyn has a high scoring two guard in Cam Thomas and could finalize the backcourt with Harper.”

Harper is the son of former NBA champion Ron Harper, and he’s a big-bodied combo guard who can either be the lead playmaker and ball-handler or play off the ball at the two.

Barring a shocking turn of events, he’s going to be taken right after <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/cooper-flagg" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Cooper Flagg</a>, and while a lot can change from now until the day of the NBA Draft, he could finally be the savior this franchise has been craving for years.

To say that the Rutgers Scarlet Knights season was a disappointment would be a massive understatement. They were one of the most anticipated teams in <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/college-basketball" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">college basketball.</a>



However, despite having two projected <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nba" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NBA</a> stars, Ace Bailey and Dylan Harper, they couldn’t achieve much success. They didn’t even make it to the NCAA Tournament.



Even so, ESPN expert Jonathan Givony won’t blame the stars like most people do. If anything, he believes that the program has failed their two superstar recruits with the roster they put up.

‘‘They had no shooting, they had no bigs, they had nothing, honestly,‘’ Givony said on ESPN’s “The Hoop Collective” podcast. ‘’I live 45 minutes away from Rutgers so I went to a dozen games this year. I never once walked away from there saying ‘I’m really disappointed the way these guys looked and I’m really questioning their outlook as prospects.‘”

The renowned NBA Draft analyst continued his rant by calling out the program for their poor recruiting and how it failed to surround their stars with high-end role players:



“In this era of college basketball, you have to surround your players with high-major college players. You can’t just grab any mid-major or low-major guy just because they’re born in the state of New Jersey. And that’s where Rutgers really failed those guys,” he said.

At the end of the day, it’s a shame that we didn’t get to watch these stellar talents in the NCAA Tournament. The only bright side is that we’ll watch them play in the NBA for the next decade-plus.

Despite having two future top-three picks in the NBA Draft, they didn’t even make the tournament.



It was sad to see Dylan Harper leave college without a shot at the ultimate glory. However, he won’t have too much time to cry over the spilled milk, as he’s about to turn pro.



With that in mind, Washington Wizards analyst Brandon Scott broke down why his team desperately needs to get him if they get a top-three pick in the 2025 NBA Draft, as projected.

“When you look at Dylan Harper’s intangibles, he screams Cade Cunningham or SGA (Shai Gilgeous-Alexander),” Scott wrote. “He’s 6’6 with a 6’10 wingspan. He shoots from mid-range and three-point range with regularity, he can defend and can be a floor general and distribute. He can handle and score with both hands and when you look at the fact that he can play off-script when plays break down, he carries high basketball IQ. Other qualities that separate him are his ability to rebound and thrive in transition, both qualities that the Wizards Front Office likes.”

Of course, the Wizards already have a lead guard in Jordan Poole, but he’s miserably failed to establish himself as a franchise player, and they can always coexist on the backcourt.
