Long before he set foot on a basketball court for the Duke Blue Devils, Montverde Academy star Cooper Flagg was already the most talked-about prospect in all of college basketball.

His freshman season at Durham has been nothing short of a success. Now, he’s looking to cap it off by leading his program to their first national championship in a decade.

That’s why the fans don’t want to see him go. According to Akash Das of Essentially Sports, they’re raising money to put together a NIL deal to convince him to stay at Duke.

Duke fans are raising money to keep Cooper Flagg in college

“In a surprising turn of events, Duke fans and alumni have been putting serious money on the line to keep their superstar. According to the FanStake website, a fan recently staked $7,550, bringing the total amount to $71,555 as fans desperately try to hold on to their star player,” wrote Das.

Flagg is projected to be the first-overall pick of the 2025 NBA Draft, and while he acknowledged that he would love to stay in college, it’s highly unlikely that he’ll forgo that opportunity.

He’s been deemed a generational talent dating back to his days in high school. We live in the one-and-done era, and he will likely join the long list of players who have turned pro after just one year on campus.
