As the preseason finale approaches, the Cincinnati Bengals face the Indianapolis Colts. However, the question about quarterbacks Joe Burrow and Daniel Jones suiting up for this game is on everyone’s minds.
After running for his life during the second preseason game, the Bengals will sit Joe Burrow for the finale. Zac Taylor told the reporters “I’ve talked to Joe, I haven’t specifically told these guys they’re not playing, but they’re not playing.”
Burrow completed 18/24 passes with three touchdowns during preseason. However, there were some concerns about his protection. The offensive line was absolutely abysmal protecting the quarterback. At least the Bengals will now have their quarterback healthy and ready to go.
Will Daniel Jones play vs. Bengals?
Per the team’s website, Daniel Jones won’t be playing either. The starting quarterback against Cincinnati will be rookie Riley Leonard. The sixth-round rookie is third on the team’s depth chart.
Jones’ statline during the preseason is that he completed 17 out of 32 passes for 245 yards. The Colts are also 0-2 during their preseason games. Needless to say, their priority was to settle who their starting quarterback was going to be between Jones and Anthony Richardson.
Who are the Bengals and Colts facing in Week 1
The NFL season starts on September 4th and both teams will play their first game on September 7th. The Colts will host the Miami Dolphins in a tough game. However, if Indy can establish its running game and put a slow pace on the matchup, they could upset Miami.
As for the Bengals, Burrow and company will pay a visit to state and divisional rivals the Cleveland Browns. While the Bengals should be the better team, they are 1-11 in Weeks 1 and 2 with Zac Taylor as head coach. This will be a tough matchup.
