The Green Bay Packers are ready to start their preseason journey against the New York Jets. With all preseason games in the NFL, the questions are all over the starting quarterbacks. Will Jordan Love and Justin Fields be on the gridiron?
According to Pro Football Network, Matt LaFleur will have all of the Packers’ four quarterbacks see some action against the Jets, including Jordan Love. LaFleur cited a data survey saying, “According to my sources, there’s a lot of injury data that supports playing guys in the preseason in regards to reducing the injury risk early in the season.”
Hence, this can apply not only for this, but all preseason. The belief is that, while Love will play, the one seeing the majority of playing time will be Malik Willis. Love will test the waters but won’t be there for an extended period of time.
Will Justin Fields play?
Justin Fields has plenty of experience playing the Packers. After all, he was a divisional rival for years. Earlier on the week, new Jets head coach Aaron Glenn confirmed that Justin Fields will get some playing time vs. the Packers.
Fields suffered a scare when he injured his toe in late July, but his recovery was smooth and fast. The former Steeler is poised to be the Jets starting quarterback for the foreseeable future. This is almost an ultimatum on his career, as he’s failed to secure a starting job on his past teams.
Fields record vs. Packers
Justin Fields won’t play too many snaps, but only a few. However, his record against the Packers is not good at all. He has an 0-6 record when facing the Cheeseheads.
He has an average of 181 yards per game on 64.4% completion. He has four touchdowns to seven interceptions and a passer rating of 75.5. Even if it’s a preseason game, Fields will try to inflict some harm into a team that he hasn’t been able to beat.
