Football is finally back. The preseason is underway, and many New York Jets fans are eager to see their new quarterback, Justin Fields, in action against the Green Bay Packers.
Recent seasons have been challenging for the Jets. In 2023, they made a bold move by acquiring Aaron Rodgers in an attempt to finally find a reliable signal-caller under center.
Unfortunately, that plan didn’t work out. Now, with Rodgers out, the team acquired Justin Fields this offseason, hoping to give him a fresh start and a new chance to prove his worth in the NFL.
Will Justin Fields play vs. Packers in Week 1 of the 2025 preseason?
After a rocky tenure with the Bears, Fields joined the Steelers in 2024. He saw limited action due to an injury to Russell Wilson, but once Wilson returned, Fields was relegated back to a backup role.
Now, the Jets have given him a new opportunity. Fields is determined to prove what he’s truly capable of, and the team believes he has the tools to compete.

NFL News: Justin Fields sends Aaron Glenn a clear message ahead of Jets’ preseason games
The preseason begins on Saturday for the Jets with a matchup against the Packers. Fields suffered a toe injury in late July, which led many fans to believe he wouldn’t take the field until the regular season—but that’s not the case.
Aaron Glenn, the Jets’ new head coach, has confirmed that Justin Fields, along with other starters, will get some reps against Green Bay. Glenn wants to see how Fields fits into the system and give him room to grow before the regular season begins.
“We’re playing. We’re playing,” Glenn said. “I can’t tell you how much guys are going to play. It’s going to be affected by how the game goes. But we’re playing. I want our guys to play, that’s the reason.”
