Justin Fields is entering a new team while Jalen Hurts is a certified top-tier quarterback. However, the question for both is the same: will they suit up as the New York Jets play the Philadelphia Eagles in their preseason closure?
Per Jets head coach Aaron Glenn, a “good amount” of starters, including Justin Fields, won’t play in the preseason finale. The coach also went ahead and that he will look to display young talent and players fighting for their spots.
Fields preseason stats are nothing out of this world. While he completed 3/4 passes against the Packers in the first preseason game, he had an awful outing against the Giants, going 1/5 for only four yards.
Is Hurts playing for Philly?
Nick Sirianni has not put his starters this preseason. He hasn’t discarted any of them for the Jets game but if trends are to follow, they are likely sitting out this game too.
The Eagles are having a couple of first-team players dealing with injuries so it’s in their best interest to not risk any more players. Also, backup quarterback Tanner McKee has impressed in preseason so why not give him one last chance to shine against the Jets?
These two teams have way too different goals
These two teams couldn’t be further from each other from a competition perspective. The Eagles are trying to go back to back on Super Bowl-winning seasons. They have a loaded roster, arguably the best in the NFL.
As for the Jets, they have a bridge quarterback in Fields, a new head coach in Aaron Glenn, and they are just trying to make a culture change this year. Their goal is to be a more organized team.
