Brown barely cracked the 1,000-yard mark this season as he ended with 1,003 and seven touchdowns. He actually has scored seven touchdowns in each of the last three seasons in Philadelphia. I just felt that was the best thing for the football team this week and moving forward,” Sirianni concluded.

<h2>Do the Eagles still have a shot at the playoffs?</h2>

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter had a procedure to repair both shoulders. With that, Carter is considered week-to-week, making him likely to miss the Monday Night Football Game against the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/los-angeles-chargers" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Chargers</a>, and possibly more games.

In 2025, Carter has racked up 32 total tackles, four tackles for loss, 11 QB hits and 2.0 sacks in 10 games played. Carter’s numbers are on par with his usual output, but the fact is Carter is one of the best defensive tackles in the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NFL</a>.

<h2>The defense is what might put the Eagles as a contender</h2>



The team has lost two in a row, but it’s not on the defense. In fact, the Eagles have allowed more than 26 points just once this year. The problem is entirely on the offense.

It’s no secret that the Philadelphia Eagles have massively struggled offensively this <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/nfl" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">NFL</a> season. Jalen Hurts and company are talented, but something is not clicking. After another underwhelming performance, questions arised but head coach Nick Sirianni is having none of it.



Speaking to Tim McManus of ESPN.com, <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/nick-sirianni" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Sirianni</a> responded “We’re not changing the playcaller, but we will evaluate everything. It’s never just about one person. You win as a team, you lose as a team and you try to evaluate everything, win, lose or draw, and get better from it.” Offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo hasn’t been able to have a consistent unit all year long, but Sirianni is not ready to pull the plug.



For instance, the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/detroit-lions" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Detroit Lions</a> made that decision earlier in the season. OC John Morton wasn’t having great success in an uber-talented offense, and head coach Dan Campbell took the playcalling duties off of him.



<h2>Patullo’s credibility is taking a big hit</h2>



If you aren’t able to get a poor offense going, chances are you won’t be blamed. But the Eagles are another story. This is an offense that has worked before, won a Super Bowl making points at will. Since Patullo took the offense, it’s dimmed heavily.

Patullo has worked with Sirianni since their time at the Colts. Sirianni was the OC while Patullo served as the Wide Receivers coach and pass game specialist. When Sirianni was appointed as the Eagles’ HC, Patullo became the pass game coordinator and after Kellen Moore left, he was promoted to OC. However, he hasn’t made <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/jalen-hurts" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Jalen Hurts</a> or any of the offensive players look their best.

<h2>Is Nick Sirianni coordinator-dependent?</h2>



The narrative floating around Sirianni’s name is that he depends heavily on his coordinators. For instance, there are head coaches that call plays offensively or defensively. Others don’t call plays, but can change coordinators without the team missing a step, that hasn’t been the case with Sirianni.



Siriani’s success has been with Shane Steichen and Kellen Moore as offensive coordinators. Both are so good, that they are NFL head coaches now. With Patullo and Brian Johnson, the team looked bad offensively and Sirianni couldn’t right the wrongs. Sticking with Patullo as playcaller might also be an indictment on Sirianni as a head coach.

“I was hoping that [forward progress] was stopped, but it wasn’t,” quarterback Jalen Hurts told reporters after the game on a fumble that the Bears recovered. “It was kind of similar to the New York game except that they just didn’t blow the whistle as soon. 



“That’s not to point the finger at anyone else. I mean, I have to hold onto the ball. It definitely presents itself as an issue and it always has. It’s just never gotten us and so today it got us and it’s something that we and I need to tighten up.”

I have confidence in this team,” Hurts said as the Eagles continue navigating a season in which they rank 19th in total offense and average 22.5 points per game. 



Hurts pointed to collaboration as a key factor. “I have confidence in us when we’re collaborative,” he added, suggesting that the unit’s identity is still a work in progress. With 1,302 rushing yards and 2,514 receiving yards so far, the <a href="https://bolavip.com/en/topic/philadelphia-eagles">Eagles</a> have shown flashes, but the quarterback believes something deeper must take shape.
