Justin Herbert and Jim Harbaugh are one of the most intriguing and hyped up quarterback-head coach duo in the NFL. The signal-caller is one of the best in the league and the coach is an elite one. However, defense is key to win Super Bowls, and that’s the Los Angeles Chargers‘ target. One player that can be crucial for the defense might be back.

This is because cornerback Elijah Molden was activated to the roster after physical tests were passed with flying colors, reported Aaron Wilson, NFL insider. Molden played 15 games last season in his debut campaign with the Chargers.

Harbaugh likes physical backs with plenty of athleticism and that’s what Molden brings to the table. He was having a good-to-great season until a broken fibula injury sidelined him in December.

Molden will be key for this Chargers squad

Molden had three interceptions, second-best in the team. He also had 7 passes defended and 2 fumbles recovered. He was the second player on the secondary with the most tackles just behind safety Derwin James. Having him back is great news for the Chargers.

Molden was on the physically unable to perform list. However, being activated means the team is positive he won’t miss time once the season begins. The former Titan can also play as a free safety as well, bringing versatility and dynamism to the defense.

The Chargers also activated another player

According to Wilson’s report, the Chargers also activated receiver Jaylen Johnson, who was battling an undisclosed injury. However, he also passed his physicals.

Johnson only played one game last season, against the Saints. He is way back on the depth chart but he can get some more snaps now that veteran Mike Williams retired from the NFL. He can step up and become more important as the season develops.
