Mike Williams has confirmed his retirement from the NFL. According to a report by Ian Rapoport, the wide receiver notified the Los Angeles Chargers of his decision after returning to the team on a one-year contract.
“Sources: Veteran WR Mike Williams has informed the Los Angeles Chargers that he plans to retire, walking away after eight seasons, with two eclipsing 1,000 yards.”
Last season was very controversial for Williams. After Aaron Rodgers publicly complained about him, the Jets traded him to the Pittsburgh Steelers, but he couldn’t become the No. 2 star wide receiver that Mike Tomlin was hoping for to support Russell Wilson.
