Mike Tomlin and the Steelers shocked the NFL after a trade with the Miami Dolphins to acquire Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith. In exchange, Pittsburgh gave up Minkah Fitzpatrick, one of the most important veterans in the locker room.
Fitzpatrick’s departure leaves a hole at the safety position, and many are wondering how Tomlin plans to fill it. In the early days of training camp, Ramsey has emerged as a possible option in certain packages, but it seemed inevitable that general manager Omar Khan would turn to the market to add more depth.
It’s important to remember that after giving T.J. Watt a historic contract extension, the Pittsburgh Steelers still have significant salary cap space to make additional moves.
Who just signed with Steelers?
Chuck Clark just signed with Pittsburgh, and during a press conference in Latrobe, Mike Tomlin spoke about his new safety and how well he knows him after facing him for six seasons when Clark was with the Baltimore Ravens.
“He’s a veteran player. A guy that’s experienced in the NFL. A guy that we’re familiar with from competing against him. So, excited to get him in the fold and giving him an opportunity. I’m just highly familiar with his intangibles. He’s got a really good relationship with the game. He’s a hard worker. He’s a really good communicator. His football character comes highly recommended.”
