Russell Wilson is still not ruled out from signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers or even the Giants. Despite New York giving a contract to Jameis Winston and Mike Tomlin waiting for Aaron Rodgers, the doors are not closed according to a report by Jeremy Fowler.
“He still got a few options. He’s not totally off Pittsburgh’s list. Still in the mix with the Giants. He’s looked at the Giants as a viable option for a while now and despite that Winston signing my sense is the Giants have looked at signing two free agent quarterbacks and then they can still draft one. They’re really just starting from scratch on their quarterback room. Cleveland still has interest in Russell Wilson. So, several options still in the air for the former Pro Bowler. He’s gonna have options. He should have one of the seats in these musical chairs of quarterbacks.”
The former Super Bowl champion with the Seahawks seemed to have suffered a fatal blow after it was announced that Winston would play in New York, but it seems there is still a slight hope.
Is Russell Wilson a free agent?
Yes. Russell Wilson is a free agent, but his options for finding a team are running out. Currently, the teams with real vacancies are the Pittsburgh Steelers, the New York Giants, the Cleveland Browns, and possibly the Minnesota Vikings. However, in the case of the Vikings, they are only looking for a backup quarterback.
“The Giants went really the last few weeks just having Tommy DeVito. So, even if they draft somebody, they need reinforcements. They have Winston and could sign somebody else. Russell Wilson has considered the Giants an option for a while now. We’ll see if that Winston signing changes things for him.”
