The bleeding simply won’t stop for Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers after their defeat in the 2025 Stanley Cup Final. In addition to the painful memory, Florida Panthers star Brad Marchand continues to rub salt in the wounds. It’s been over a week since the conquest in the 2024-25 NHL season, yet Marchand has fired at one player on the Oilers with a blunt five-word comment.
Marchand has re-gained his confidence since arriving in Sunrise. After hoisting his second Stanley Cup, that swagger has only sky-rocketed off the charts. The Oilers have definitely been in the winger’s scope, and he isn’t letting McDavid and the rest of the team off the hook.
While insiders and fans speculate day and night about his future, Marchand is savoring every moment—especially after conquering Lord Stanley once again. His social media presence is unrivaled in the NHL right now, as the 37-year-old continues to taunt the Oilers following a heated Stanley Cup Final.
No one is safe from Marchand’s taunts
This time around, it was Jake Walman who caught a stray from Marchand on Instagram. The Panthers‘ star didn’t forget about Walman’s attitude during Game 1, when he chirped Tomas Nosek, laughing in his face after a costly mistake in overtime.
Three weeks have passed since that night, but Marchand waited until now to mock Edmonton’s blueliner. “Think he’s still laughing?” he commented on an Instagram post making fun of Walman’s controversial move in Game 1.
Decision up in the air
Based on Marchand’s latest statements and his overall attitude since joining the Panthers, there seems to be little reason to believe he’d want to move out of Sunrise. However, the NHL is a business, and the veteran must decide what’s best for his family and himself.
According to reports, his future with the Panthers might come down to the wire. “It’s a 50/50 coinflip whether Brad Marchand stays in Florida,” insider Pierre LeBrun said, per TSN.
