On Saturday, Sergio Agüero played his first match from the start with Barcelona for the first time during the 1-1 draw against Alaves. However, the Argentinian had to be replaced at the edge of the first half, when he suddenly fell to the floor visibly in pain.

At first, it was reported that the 33-year-old was suffering from chest pains and breathing difficulties. While at first it looked really serious, thankfully he made it back to his feet and walked off the pitch.

After the match,Barcelona confirmed that the forward was taken to the hospital in an ambulance and was going through more medical check outs. On Sunday, journalist Veronica Brunati and other Spanish outlets, such as Sport, said that he was diagnosed with ‘cardiac arrhythmia’.

Sergio Aguero: What is cardiac arrhythmia?

While Barcelona haven’t said anything official about Sergio Aguero’s health after taking him to the hospital, Spanish media has reported that the Argentinian was diagnosed with cardiac arrhythmia, which means that he has an irregular heartbeat.

According to the National Library of Medicine, it could be that your heart beats too quickly, too slowly, or with an irregular pattern. Some symptoms can be: lightheadedness or dizziness, chest pain, trouble breathing and sweating. Many times, an arrhythmia doesn’t necessarily mean anything serious. However, it’s always important to consult a doctor or a health professional.

Spanish outlet Marca also reported Aguero will have a full heart check in the coming days to work out the extent of the problem. For now, it seems like the Argentinian will be kept under observation and therefore is likely to miss the Champions League clash against Dynamo Kiev on Tuesday.
