Lionel Messi has once again showcased his brilliance in the final of the 2023 Leagues Cup as he scored for Inter Miami against Nashville SC. With Inter Miami aiming for its inaugural title, Messi’s goal helped them complete their mission despite the matchup ended 1-1.

Having already nine goals across six matchups, Messi entered the match as the tournament’s leading scorer. As the final unfolded, Messi added one more to his count with an early goal, further solidifying their opportunity to win the championship. However, an own goal by Inter Miami’s goalkeeper Drake Callender tied things up 1-1.

This score meant a penalty shootout was going to determine the champion. After a set that included 11 penalties by each side, Inter Miami prevailed 10-9.
