Seattle Sounders have made it to the MLS Cup Final once again and they’re ready to win their third title overall, and the second one in a row. They are the defending champions of the league and they’re not ready to let that honor go.
Seattle are facing Columbus Crew this Saturday after defeating very good rivals on their way to the big series. Before the season, they were seen as favorites to win the title and they are getting closer to the back-to-back.
The Sounders had stronger rivals as the games passed by and now it’s time to cap off a magical season for the team. The road to the final wasn’t easy, but they are ready to continue their good moment with the ultimate rival of the campaign.
Seattle Sounders’ road to the MLS Cup 2020 Final
Everything started against LAFC in the first round of the playoffs. Carlos Vela was ready to surprise the Sounders but they had no mercy against the Los Angelenos team, easily beating them with a 3-1 result.
In the Western Conference semifinals, they went against a very hard rival in FC Dallas, who put up a big fight against the 2x MLS Cup champions. Shane O’Neill appeared for his team and gave them a huge victory over the dangerous Texans.
Their prior game before the Final was definitely the hardest of all. They started the game losing 0-2 against Minnesota United. The second half was marvelous for the Sounders, who tried and tried until they scored the first goal. After that, they didn’t stop until they tied the game. When everybody believed they were headed to extra time, Gustav Svensson scored a last-gasp to give the team a huge win and the pass to the final.
