For months, Cooper Flagg teased Duke fans, talking about potentially returning next season. However, that was always a long shot, and it made no financial or practical sense for him.

That’s why it was far from a surprise to see him declare for the 2025 NBA Draft, especially considering he’s firmly projected to be the first player taken off the board.

With that in mind, the 18-year-old Maine native took to social media to pen a heartfelt farewell message to the Blue Devils nation and his teammates as he takes this major step.

“Duke fans, my teammates, the brotherhood and everybody that was along for this journey, it was an incredible year, probably the best year of my life,” Flagg said. “I have so much gratitude. I feel so blessed for all the opportunities that I was given. Duke has always been a dream for me, but I’m excited to announce that I’ll be entering my name into the 2025 NBA Draft. Today is just the beginning, but I have the brotherhood with me for life.”

Flagg leaves campus with averages of 18.9 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game. He was also a consensus first-team All-American and the National College Player of the Year, ACC Player of the Year, and many more.

He’s expected to be one of the faces of the NBA right out of the gate, and while those are some huge shoes to fill, he’s clearly talented enough to take care of business.
