Jon Scheyer and the Duke Blue Devils couldn’t finish the job last season. Despite being considered the best team in college basketball and having the best player in the nation, they still fell short.

It feels like they could’ve achieved great things had Cooper Flagg chosen to stay in college. Even so, while his time on campus was short-lived, it was still significant.

However, now that he’s gone to the Dallas Mavericks, his former coach can finally take some friendly jabs at him, and that’s what he did in an appearance on Justin Robinson’s ‘The Brotherhood’ podcast.

“We’re gonna start off with a guy you know really well, Cooper Flagg. He reached out,” Robinson said. “He asked, how amazing was it to coach Cooper Flagg?”

You know, and that’s, when we said we were gonna do this, I wasn’t thinking about getting questions from Cooper,” Scheyer responded. “The fact that he has a question […] I don’t know how amazing I wanna say it was, but, it was amazing beating him in a horse. Yeah. Every day after practice.”

Cooper Flagg might be the first-overall pick and about to become an NBA superstar, but it seems like Coach Scheyer will forever hold bragging rights over him.
