He still has to finish out this season at Duke, but Cooper Flagg is already projected to save an NBA franchise next season.

Long before he even committed to play for the Duke Blue Devils, some scouts were already raving about Cooper Flagg. And so far, he’s lived up to the expectations.

It’s hard to think of a better player in all of college basketball right now. More importantly, it seems like his game will translate perfectly to the pros once he declares for the NBA Draft.

That’s why Eddie Bittar of Fadeaway World dug deep into the projections. And now that the Washington Wizards are expected to get the first-overall pick, Flagg is likely heading to the nation’s capital.

Cooper Flagg projected to be the Washington Wizards’ savior

ā€œWith the Wizards stuck in the basement of the NBA standings, the hope is that Cooper Flagg can be the franchise-changing piece they’ve been waiting for. The Duke star has been nothing short of dominant, stuffing stat sheets and rewriting freshman record books,ā€ wrote Bittar. ā€œThe Wizards can’t afford to overthink this one—Flagg is the guy.ā€

Of course, that will all depend on whether the Wizards actually end up winning the NBA Draft lottery. Not even having the worst record in the league is a guarantee of that.

But with young two-way players like Alex Sarr and Bilal Coulibaly, it might not take long before this team goes back to playoff contention if they end up getting the Duke standout.
