The North Carolina Tar Heels‘ selection to enter the NCAA Tournament‘s main bracket sparked a lot of debate, both in favor and against. While they had a strong first performance with a win, Ole Miss proved too much for RJ Davis and Seth Trimble‘s team, ending their participation in this year’s March Madness.
Despite this, Trimble had some emotional words for his teammate and, through tears, expressed his feelings after sharing this season with Davis.
“I’ve learned so much from RJ,” he said once the game concluded. “The second I stepped on campus, he was there. I asked him, ‘Can we work out in the summer?’ I basically asked him, ‘Can I follow you, hey, can I do everything that you do?’ I’m fortunate enough for him to an accept me and share all the knowledge that he’s shared over the years. I’ve learned how to be a better leader, I’ve learned how to be a better basketball player. I’ve learned a lot from RJ. Real fortunate for it.”
Trimble’s evolution
Although the Tar Heels‘ season ultimately didn’t end as expected, it’s important to highlight Seth Trimble’s evolution throughout the games, as he became a key pillar of the team.

Seth Trimble #7 and RJ Davis #4 of the North Carolina Tar Heels react after a dunk against the UC Riverside Highlanders during the first half of the game at the Dean E. Smith Center on November 17, 2023 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina.
With the confidence of his coach in recent weeks, Trimble ended up becoming the third-highest scorer on the team up until the final game, where they were ultimately defeated 71-64 by the Ole Miss Rebels.

Trimble will definitely become one of the top players next season at UNC, and according to his post-elimination comments, RJ Davis has entrusted him with everything he needs to become the next leader of the team.
The tough loss against the Rebels
Chris Beard and his Rebels proved to be too much for the Tar Heels, who couldn’t withstand the pressure from their opponent. Led by Sean Pedulla’s stellar performance, Ole Miss left no doubt and sent UNC packing with a solid victory.
Pedulla was the standout, posting 20 points, six rebounds, and five assists. He made 7 of 14 shots from the floor, including 2 of 4 from beyond the arc. Dre Davis followed with 15 points and eight rebounds, while Jaemyn Brakefield contributed 12 points, four assists, and three rebounds.
