After losing the first two games in the second round of the playoffs, the Boston Celtics responded with urgency and focus in Game 3. This time, the offense found its rhythm and executed with precision. At least four players finished with more than 17 points, which highlighted the strength of their collective approach. Fueled by the win and the team’s improved chemistry, Jaylen Brown stepped up and delivered bold postgame remarks.

You gotta beat us four times, that’s what it comes down to…There’s a lot of basketball to be played,” stated Jaylen Brown on press conference. Many did not expect the Celtics to win, mainly because of their recent struggles on offense. However, Doc Rivers showed once again that he knows how to adapt his roster. Because of that, the Celtics secured a win that sent a clear message: they are ready to fight for the series.

Still, neither Jaylen Brown nor Jayson Tatum stood out on the offensive end. So far in the series, neither has scored 30 points in a game. However, the Knicks’ defense deserves credit for that. Their pressure forced both stars to adjust their roles. As a result, they helped in other ways, creating space for teammates to take over. Thanks to that, Boston’s offense looked more balanced. Even so, the series is far from over, since the Celtics still trail the Knicks by one win.

Jayson Tatum opens up about pressure and criticism during Celtics’ playoff run

Unlike the first round of the playoffs, Jayson Tatum has failed to shine against the New York Knicks. In three games, his maximum offensive performance was 23 points. A far cry from the more than 35 points he averaged against the Orlando Magic. Because of this, his performance has caused a lot of controversy. After this, Tatum talked about the pressure he suffers being the face of the Celtics.

You understand what comes with being that guy. I live a great life. I ain’t gonna lie. I make a lot of money. I take care of my family. I’ve been able to experience a lot of things. You also have to accept what comes with that. I get a lot of praise. I get a lot of credit. I get a lot of accolades. But I’m not perfect. There’s time where I’ve needed to play better. I’ve needed to do more. That’s what comes with being that guy,” stated Jayson Tatum.

Many fans consider Jayson Tatum an overrated player in the NBA. However, his performance in the 2024-25 season challenges that claim. He has played 72 games and averaged 26.8 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 6 assists. Those numbers reflect his consistent impact on both ends of the court. Moreover, his presence forces opposing teams to adjust their defense. They often create specific game plans to stop him. As a result, his teammates find more space to play their game.

Although Tatum has not delivered standout offensive games recently, his influence remains clear. He still has at least two games left in the season. That gives him a real chance to rediscover his rhythm and bounce back. If he finds his scoring touch again, he could silence the critics and make a major difference for Boston.
