LeBron James has NBA fans, and especially the Los Angeles Lakers faithful, eagerly awaiting a decision on whether he’ll return for another season. At 40 years old and with nearly every major milestone in the league under his belt, speculation continues to swirl about his future following 22 seasons of professional basketball.

Although James has previously addressed questions about retirement, fans remain anxious about his long-term plans. Adding to the conversation, several former NBA players have weighed in, including one of the Indiana Pacers’ key figures from the 2000s.

Speaking on the Sloane Knows podcast, former NBA forward Al Harrington offered his thoughts on LeBron’s future. “Honestly, I personally think that he could play five more years if he wanted to because he takes care of himself,” Harrington said. “He has the body that can do it, but I personally think this is his last year coming up.”

While James told The Pat McAfee Show that he still feels capable of playing beyond this season, a recent injury could become a deciding factor. Still, his on-court performance last season showed he can continue to compete at a high level.

Despite the Lakers’ exit in the Western Conference Semifinals against the Minnesota Timberwolves, LeBron and his team appeared poised for another title run. With Luka Doncic adapting to the system and JJ Redick reportedly staying on as head coach, Los Angeles may remain in the championship conversation.

LeBron’s individual numbers may not have matched his career peaks, but for a 40-year-old in his 22nd season, they were nothing short of remarkable. That’s why, some fans are expecting to see LeBron playing next season.

In 70 regular-season games, James averaged 24.4 points, 7.8 rebounds, and 8.2 assists per game. He shot 51% from the field, 78% from the free-throw line, and averaged 34.9 minutes per contest.
