The Golden State Warriors‘ 2024-25 season ended with a Game 5 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the Western Conference Semifinals, but the franchise is already looking ahead to the next season. According to reports, the Warriors have made a firm decision regarding Draymond Green’s future.

Earlier in the season, before Jimmy Butler joined the team, speculation swirled that the Warriors might explore trade options involving Green. However, that scenario never materialized—and according to insider Brett Siegel, it won’t happen next season either.

The only instance Green could potentially be traded is if he went to [Mike] Dunleavy and [Joe] Lacob and asked for a trade. This won’t happen, nor does Draymond envision himself playing for another team without Steph [Curry], sources said,” Siegel reported via ClutchPoints.

The Warriors are committed to building their team around their core trio of Stephen Curry, Jimmy Butler, and Draymond Green. While rumors had circulated about a potential trade involving Butler or Green for superstars like Kevin Durant or Giannis Antetokounmpo, Siegel dismissed those claims.

This team’s identity looking ahead to the 2025-26 season revolves around Curry, Butler, and Green,” Siegel explained. “Ideas of moving either Butler or Green aren’t going to be explored in the offseason, contrary to popular belief that one could be flipped in a trade to acquire a superstar like Giannis Antetokounmpo or Kevin Durant”.

While trading their core stars is off the table, the Warriors could pursue a fourth star this offseason to bolster their roster for next NBA season. ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk reported that Green acknowledged this possibility but urged caution.

Asked if Warriors need another star or more complementary pieces, Draymond Green said Warriors are set up to go whichever route and Mike Dunleavy will make the right decision,” Youngmisuk wrote. “He notes adding a fourth star doesn’t always work. But he said if one is available, always good to take ‘a peek”.
