The New York Jets suffered a string of bad news including the injury of new quarterback Justin Fields. Now, they have an update on their signal-caller.

The New York Jets suffered a scare as their new quarterback Justin Fields picked up an injury a few days ago that made him unable to continue practicing. However, with the start of a new NFL week came new developments on the matter.

Positive signs for the Green Gang have arrived as Justin Fields was able to practice and participated in 11-on-11 drills. This means his dislocated toe might be almost at a 100%. Having him in full team drills is massive as he needs to practice and get to know his teammates before the season arrives.

The Jets have one of the most reliable backups in the NFL in Tyrod Taylor, but Fields is the one with high upside. Taylor is decent, won’t make many mistakes, but won’t be a needle-mover. Fields, even though he has a bit of a wilder style, is a dual-threat quarterback with massive potential if developed the right way.

New head coach Aaron Glenn is bringing a new system

The team may have not been ‘classy’ when it shipped former QB Aaron Rodgers out of the building. Still, Glenn made sure one thing was known: he is not messing around. He came to the Jets to change how things are done. The team now operates in a straight-forward, no non-sense way.

Fields is a more coachable, young quarterback than Rodgers. He will adapt to a new system, instead of Rodgers, who will make a team adapt to his style and brings some unsolicited drama.

Fields has weapons with something to prove

Many of the weapons Fields will have are ready to prove doubters wrong. His first option is Garrett Wilson, who just signed a massive new deal. Hence, he’s out there to prove he deserves the money he got. As for the other weapons, Mason Taylor is a rookie tight end with lots of hype.

Fields’ best running back is Breece Hall, who said last week he knows he is on a key year to prove he deserves an extension. Hall is a very good running back that can also be a great pass catcher. This offense could be something productive if coached properly.
