Andy Reid and the Kansas City Chiefs could be one of the teams interested in cornerback Jaire Alexander, according to a report by Albert Breer. If the Green Bay Packers are willing to listen to offers for a trade, Patrick Mahomes might have a new star teammate.
āI could throw the San Francisco 49ers, Rams, Steelers and Chiefs out there as teams that entered the draft with needs at the position, and didnāt take corners in the first two rounds of the draft.ā
After losing the Super Bowl to the Eagles, general manager Brett Veach is trying to keep the dynasty alive, and one of the key areas to reinforce is the defense. Alexander would be a big splash.
Who might Chiefs get?
Jaire Alexander could sign with the Chiefs after that hypothetical trade with the Packers, but as Breer mentions, the biggest obstacle to the deal getting done could be the playerās salary.
āThe question, to me, comes down to money. Heās due $17.5 million this year. And, because of his recent injury history, thatās shown to be a bit rich for interested teams. Alexander, meanwhile, would rather be cut so he can pick his destination, and he might not be willing to help with a contract adjustment to facilitate a trade.ā
