Steelers owner Art Rooney II has broken the silence on the team's quarterback situation, hinting why Justin Fields might have a shot to stay in Pittsburgh.

Art Rooney II must make a very important decision together with head coach Mike Tomlin and general manager Omar Khan. They need to define as soon as possible who will be the starting quarterback for the Pittsburgh Steelers in the near future.

There are many options on the table. The most viable one, as the team owner has already hinted, is to sign either Russell Wilson or Justin Fields to a contract extension. Both players will be free agents, and according to Rooney, the plan is to make an offer to only one of them.

Another alternative is to look for a veteran in the market, such as Sam Darnold or Aaron Rodgers, or, in the more complicated scenario, to find the future franchise quarterback in the 2025 Draft, which isn’t very deep. The choice is crucial in trying to become a Super Bowl contender again.

Who will be Steelers’ starting QB in 2025?

The Steelers have not yet announced who will be the starting quarterback for 2025, but Art Rooney II confirmed that he would like to continue working with Justin Fields. The audio was shared by 93.7 The Fan after the final press conference of the season by the team’s owner.

“Obviously, we had a winning record. He handled the situation. I think as a young quarterback who wants to come in and learn and grow, I think he did grow. I think he does have that mindset that he wants to get better. So, I think that makes you feel like you want to potentially work with him again in the future.”
